While they are strong, they may not be as strong as other fillings, and for that reason they are recommended for teeth that will not undergo a great deal of pressure while you are eating and chewing, and often work best for smaller cavities.
Composite fillings may take longer to apply, since the tooth needs to be kept dry during the process. The composites are applied in layers and each layer must be cured with a special light. Because they can be shaded, they will be vulnerable to stains, so it is a good idea to limit your intake of dark-colored foods and drinks.
You will need to continue to brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste, and floss at least once day. Your dentist will need to see you for your regular cleanings and exams, and at that time, she will check your composite fillings.
